A Fresh Coat of Paint: Part 3 Living Room

I've had a lot of fun picking out the colors for my walls. I chose red partially because it was dark enough to cover my kids artwork, in sharpie marker no less, on the walls. I also really like this shade because of the warm tones in it. I think the dark red made Henry a little nervous, but all in all it turned out great!  ðŸ˜‰

I'm really excited to start the decorating process next!

Here are some before, during, and after shots of this room. I only painted 3 walls, as the other I plan on giving a fresh layer of white for contrast. White will be the next to go up.

Banana Chips

We decided it was time to pull out the banana slicer Henry made a few years ago and make some banana chips.

He constructed it with wood that he evenly notched, and threaded with thin wire. It is a great size because it slices 3 bananas at a time, and makes quick work of filling the dehydrator trays. We had a lot of fun as a family pealing and placing bananas.

After filling the trays, we let them dry for a few days. We than gathered them all up into a gallon sized Ziplock bag. It's a good thing we made so many, they were gone in less than a week!

A fresh coat of paint: part 2 Family Room

I cannot begin to express how boaring white walls have become to me!  Life in general has had us itching for a change, and with all the artwork and holes in the walls, it seemed only natural to do some painting. Here is our Family room, in the middle of the prep for paint.

The white, when we bought our home was glorious and bright. Over time wear and tear, and lotts of little fingers dinged that brightness. When choosing colors we decided to go for something to bring back the cheerful atmosphere. We found a nice pale shade of orange, and decided that was the one to go with the green kitchen. Wow, what a change!

We are looking forward to all the decorating that will be coming to compliment the newly brightend surroundings!  I'm also really looking forward to the paint drying, and putting my furniture back...
